Poaching remains a major challenge to conservation in Tanzania. In Serengeti, tour operators are now supporting Tanzania National Parks through Frankfurt Zoological Society, by funding the Serengeti De-Snaring Programme.

Serengeti Solar-Powered Borehole Project

Until recently, fresh water in the Seronera area was sourced from distant springs that are also a vital source of drinking water for the wildlife. To get to these springs, large water trucks are used to go and collect the water supply. These trucks carry a very heavy carbon footprint due to the fuel fumes, exhaust and fine dust load that it generate and emit while traveling through and across the park.
