At One Nature, we are committed to being instrumental in conserving areas of wild and raw beauty on our planet. We also believe that every guest who visits is a potential ambassador for the environment and for green philosophies and for the preservation of natural resources.

Serengeti De-Snaring Programme

Animal poaching is a major problem that not only threatens the very existence of a number of animal species in Tanzania like Rhinos and Elephants.

‘Snaring’ is a prevalent form of animal poaching that is done by using snares made from pieces of wires, shaped into a loop, anchored down and placed in an area of high animal activity with the sole purpose of killing wildlife for bushmeat. It is estimated that around 100,000 animals are killed in the Serengeti ecosystem each year.

ONE NATURE is a founding member of SENAPA Investors and proudly supports the Serengeti De-Snaring Programme — a joint project between Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), SENAPA INVESTORS and Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS). Only six months after the initiative started in April 2017, the first team employed by the project, have successfully removed 7331 snares within the Serengeti National Park area.

In 10 months, this total rose to an astounding 6 tons worth of collected snares. One of the programme’s goals is to establish at least six teams to effectively patrol and carry out operations for the entire SNP. To do this, we encourage donors to support and contribute to this necessary cause.

Anti-poaching advocacy

Although Rhino poaching has taken centre stage in the conservation battle, many other species are threatened with extinction. From pangolin scales, to python skin to rhino horns and elephant tusks, the illegal trafficking of wildlife animals and their by-products is a battle being waged by conservationists on a daily basis. Dwindling numbers evident in many species across the globe would suggest that we are losing this battle.

At One Nature, we believe that we have a role to play in preserving species diversity and healthy populations through financial support financial support for groups advocating the total elimination of wildlife poaching.

We are also advocates of conservation programmes and education of communities that surround conservancy areas. We believe that these communities have to see and experience very real benefits of conservation if they are to support conservation efforts over poaching. Only then can the world conservation community ensure healthy populations and species diversity.

Tree planting/Reforestation

Our commitment extends to the protection and propagation of biodiversity of all plant and animal species. By supporting tree planting initiatives, we hope to play our part in combatting desertification.

Conservancy expansion

We are driven to ensure that more and more land, and the wildlife that lives within it, is kept protected by law from illegal trade and developments by making every effort to expand the land area of our host conservancies.
