Until recently, fresh water in the Seronera area was sourced from distant springs that are also a vital source of drinking water for the wildlife. To get to these springs, large water trucks are used to go and collect the water supply. These trucks carry a very heavy carbon footprint due to the fuel fumes, exhaust and fine dust load that it generate and emit while traveling through and across the park.
Recognizing this problem and how it affects the environment, ONE NATURE donated the equipment and manpower needed for a solar-powered borehole to the Tanzania National Park.
With the completion of this project, the new well will not only facilitate a safe and stable supply of water, but will also help minimize the ecological impact that traveling across the park usually entails. The independent solar system that powers the well will also go a long way to decrease carbon emission in the Serengeti.
At One Nature, we are committed to being instrumental in conserving areas of wild and raw beauty on our planet.
